Oceano
Nestled between the ocean and Highway 1, Oceano is home to the only beach in California that you can drive on. This is definitely more of a slow-living, seaside town. The population is sparse, with under 10,000 people. A rural, outdoorsy lifestyle is the norm here, and most of the residents are retirees. While the town of Oceano will have everything you need, the main draw is the 18-mile-long coastline. The Oceano dunes are the largest dunes complex in California. If you don’t fancy driving on them, you can spend your days basking in the sun, surfing the Pacific Ocean, fishing the waterways, or huddling under a crackling campfire.
